In a live broadcast this Monday morning, Apple introduced several new products from the Apple Watch Series 10 to the iPhone 16. One of those new announcements is the latest ear buds in the Apple lineup – AirPods 4.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro don’t open until Friday, September 13. However, AirPods 4 are now open for order at Amazon and Best Buy, and will be officially released on Friday, September 20. You can find . the ANC-enabled model for $179, or the model without for just $130.

Voice isolation removes background noise from your side of anyone on the phone, so if you’re walking through a busy crowd and find loud music playing next to you, the person you’re talking to will hear it and only you.

Powered by the H2 chip, AirPods see an improvement in sound quality with a new acoustic structure for rich bass and crystal clear highs.

Another interesting new addition is how AirPods can interact with Siri. You nod your head yes or shake your head no to both respond to Siri’s announcements and look like a weirdo on the train.

Changes to the Charging Case

Apple’s live stream emphasized that the charging case now uses USB-C for user convenience. Although yes it is very easy, they are finally going to move away from the lightning port to comply with the new EU rules. It’s still a win for the customer.

The case is Apple’s smallest yet so it can easily fit in most pockets, but it can still hold up to 30 hours of total battery life. The case now supports wireless charging and a speaker has been added to help with the Find My app.

Finally, Active Noise Cancellation

AirPods 4 significantly marks Apple’s first set of open-ear headphones to support active noise cancellation. Two versions of AirPods 4 are available, without ANC. The active noise-cancelling model also includes a transparent mode so you can easily hear the world around you.

Adaptive Audio automatically lowers the volume based on changes in your environment, so there’s no need to switch modes when going from a quiet environment to a noisy environment. Conversation Awareness will detect when you’re talking face-to-face with someone and can automatically reduce media volume to match. When the conversation ends, the volume will automatically return to its previous, high level.
