But now we have an even better picture of what to expect from the new park expansion, which will open in Japan very soon.
In today’s episode of “Nintendo will announce anything really instead of Switch 2,” gaming legend Shigeru Miyamoto took Donkey Kong Country fans as part of a new Nintendo Direct special, giving a taste of what to expect from the expansion ahead of its launch. next month in Japan. While the ride preview stops short of teasing it, we’ve previously learned that the ride will simulate ride-on cars “jumping” on the track as they jump over gaps and switch lanes. It’s all safely handled with a secondary track hidden just below, so you’re not relying on forwards and reckless abandon to prevent your destruction while you’re on vacation—but it’s still nice to see Miyamoto’s cheerful optimism that even humans are afraid of him. rollercoasters in the park will enjoy the new ride knowing that.
Donkey Kong Country will open at Universal Studios Japan on December 11, 2024—and while it won’t be added to the short-form Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, it will be included in the jump-in version of the country at Universal’s Epic Universe in Orlando when it opens. on May 22, 2025.
