Did Sony just reveal the design of the PS5 Pro at its 30th Anniversary announcement?
Today, Sony shared for the first time what it has planned to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation and it seems that the PS5 Pro will be part of the party. Hidden in the promotional material is what could be a picture of the rumored development of the current generation PS5 console. Zoom in between the “S” of the PlayStation logo and the “3” of the 30’s and you’ll see a PS5-like console that doesn’t match the look of any PlayStation product past or present.
Obviously this is not an official announcement or confirmation about the PS5 Pro, so we are not close to clear news about the launch of the new hardware. But it’s hard to ignore how much the silhouette of that beefy console looks like a possible PS5 Pro offering that leaked in late August. The large size and the three lines across the body seem very similar between the two images.
And if you want to really go down the rabbit hole, the actual 30th anniversary of the PlayStation is December 3. Sounds like a good day to start selling a powerful new console to me. That date would also coincide well with rumors that circulated earlier this year that the PS5 Pro version would arrive in time for holiday shopping.
Aside from speculation about the PS5 Pro, Sony has officially shared some news on how it plans to mark the big three-oh. Between October and January, the company made digital tracks from its games available for the first time on Spotify: God of War, God of War II, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Twisted Metal, The Starhawk again Unit 13. There will also be a special event aimed at introducing first time players to the Gran Turismo franchise and a beautiful collection of toys called Shapes of Play inspired by the colors and shapes of the PlayStation console. And there’s a small 30th anniversary photo op section in the hub for upcoming releases Astro Botwhich looks just amazing.
