An office worker was rescued after being abandoned by colleagues while hiking Mount Shavano in Colorado.
“In what could be an awkward meeting at the office in the coming days and weeks, one member of their team was left to complete their last meeting alone,” Chaffee County Search and Rescue, South wrote on Facebook.

The first responders said that when the hiker climbed the peak and turned back to go down the mountain, his colleagues were picking up all the belongings he had left and marking them when they came down.
After that he was “disturbed,” the rescue group wrote. “Worried about him, he sent the pin to his colleagues who were already going down. These colleagues told him that his way was wrong and to go up again to find the trail again,” they added.
Co-workers contacted first responders that night.
After texting his coworkers, a “severe storm” hit with torrential rain and wind, leading to further disorientation for the traveler, and a difficult time for search and rescue teams. The traveler also lost cellphone signal, according to authorities.

Local teams, drones, and helicopters were used in the search but to no avail, and the unnamed man (the company of the hiking group was also unnamed) spent the night on the mountain.
The next morning, the passenger was able to call 911 after returning to the service.
“The pedestrian was very fortunate to have regained cell phone assistance on the way back, and was still sane enough to call 911,” they wrote.
He was taken to hospital in stable condition.
