When the third season ended to mixed reviews in May of 2023, executives from Apple and Warner Bros. went on record as saying they would like to continue the show, but left that decision up to Sudeikis. Sudeikis has clearly given his blessing to get the ball rolling, but it remains to be seen whether Ted will be the afterthought of the new season or if he will work as a standout player. On the Hollywood industry podcast The cityhost Matthew Belloni said he believes in this. “I think they’re going to pass this on to the women’s team,” he said. “And there will be a new coach, and Sudekis will come in for a few episodes and help them or show them in an amazing way.”

This is good news for fans — and good news for Apple. “This is their best show by a mile,” said Belloni, noting that despite the end of last year, Ted Lasso remains in their top ten shows.
