The Acolyte Will Not Return Season 2

It’s a sad day in a galaxy far, far, far away. Deadline reports that the star Wars A Disney+ show The Acolyte was canceled after its first season. Lucasfilm confirmed to io9 that it will not continue with a second season, which has never officially been greenlit.

Set during the High Republic, The Acolyte told the story of two sisters, Mae and Osha, whose mysterious presence raised many questions for the Jedi and Sith of the time. Eventually, the pair switched roles, with former Jedi apprentice Osha teaming up with the evil, unknown Sith, and former Sith apprentice Mae ending up as a Jedi. It was a great show that told a bold, exciting new story star Wars the story. That’s probably why the audience rejected it.

After the first game produced great numbers, those numbers dropped as the series went on so the news of their cancellation is not a complete surprise. However, fans like me have been hoping that the exciting second season has started, and the inclusion of a fan favorite character at the end, might give it a second chance. But there seems to be no luck.

Movement does too The Acolyte The first Disney + star Wars indicate that you are leaving canceled. While shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi again The Book of Boba Fett aren’t back for second seasons, there’s still no official word on either. (Also, in the case of Kenobithe second season doesn’t make a lot of sense.)

Next in live action star Wars on Disney+ Skeleton Crew, which is the same The Acolyte it faces an uphill battle without visible ammunition. That will be followed by a second season Andor in 2025 and after that… we don’t know. The second season Ahsoka it is developing; first movie since 2019, The Mandalorian & Grogu, is produced. Any other movies are in various stages of development.

The Acolyte it seemed like it would be a great new, exciting place to fit star Wars news. But now, it seems we’ll never get the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise, what Osha and the Stranger were after, and how the Jedi would react to their apparent lack of respect for honor. Do you see? Doesn’t that all sound amazing? I’m going to go cry now.

Created by Leslye Headland, The Acolyte Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Carrie-Anne Moss, Manny Jacinto, and Joonas Suotamo. You can, at least for now, stream the entire series on Disney+.

Update at 8pm August 19: We’ve added Lucasfilm’s confirmation to the story.
