The great adventure game Plucky Squire arrives on September 17
The Plucky Squire it’s been one of my most anticipated games since it first hit the shows a few years ago. It was delayed to 2023 and came out this year, unfortunately, but the long wait to play it is almost over. Publisher Devolver Digital and developer All Possible Futures revealed that The Plucky Squire coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch on September 17. It will be available in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium members at no extra cost on day one.
The action focuses on the story book. After the evil Humgrump realizes he’s the villain of his fairy tale, he removes the titular squire (aka Jot) from the pages to try to change the narrative. Jot must navigate 3D and 2D environments as he jumps between planes on his journey to save his friends and ensure a happy ending to this saga.
The visuals look absolutely lovely in both 2D and 3D formats. It looks like a combination of classic Zelda games, modern Mario and LittleBigPlanet. The first project from All Possible Futures (one of whose heads was a Pokémon artist) is absurdly promising. I can’t wait to check it out next month.
Meanwhile, Sony revealed new details about a few other indie games. A new version of the original point and click game Broken Sword, Shadow of the Temple, comes to PS5 on September 19, 28 years after the original incarnation was released. Revolution Software has remastered the game in 4K with more than 50 times the resolution of the original PlayStation version.
Finally, Sulphur is a stylish first-person shooter with a lot of flexibility. There are said to be over 35 million weapon and repair combos available. The next project from developer Perfect Random is coming to PS4 and PS5 in 2025.
