Alex de Minaur will return from injury later this month at the US Open, the Australian said on social media on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old has not competed since Wimbledon in July, where he injured his groin in the closing stages of his fourth-round win over Arthur Fils. De Minaur was forced to withdraw before his quarter-final match with Novak Djokovic and has since missed the Paris Olympics and the ATP Masters 1000 in Montreal and Cincinnati.

However, De Minaur is ready to compete at the US Open in New York, where the season will begin on August 26.

“A little update. I’ve been working hard trying to recover from my injury. It’s been really hard to miss tournaments and I’m happy to say I’ll be playing the US Open,” De Minaur wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for the support I received, it really helped me through these difficult times. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”

De Minaur owns a 36-12 record this season, highlighted by titles in Acapulco and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The Australian is currently ranked eighth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin and will be aiming for a strong finish to the season to boost his chances of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time.
