Eyewitnesses described when a passenger plane crashed in the state of Brazil, São Paulo all 61 people on board died.
“When I heard the sound of the plane falling, I looked out my window at home and saw when it crashed,” Felipe Magalhaes told Reuters.
He ran out of his house in the town of Vinhedo to see where the plane had crashed. “I was scared and didn’t know what to do, I jumped over the wall,” he said.
Nathalie Cicari lives near the crash site and says she was having lunch when she heard “a very loud noise very close by”.
He described it as similar to the sound of a drone but “much louder”.
“I went out to the balcony and saw the plane hovering,” said Ms. Cicari CNN Brasil.
“Within a few seconds, I realized that it was not the normal movement of the plane.”
The moment of impact was “terrifying,” she said. He was not injured even though he had to leave his house which was filled with black smoke after the accident.
Another witness, called Pietro, told Reuters he saw “a lot of people” entering the house “to make videos”.
“What I saw was the crash of the plane, only the cab was left,” he said.
At Cascavel Airport in the southern state of Paraná, where the flight had taken off for the city of São Paulo, several passengers who missed the Voepass flight spoke about their feelings.
Adriano Assis said that when he arrived at the airport, there was no information about where he was going to leave from and no one was at the counter to answer questions.
When someone came, they told him he couldn’t ride, he said.
“I even argued with him, but he ended up saving my life,” Mr. Assis told a local newspaper, as reported by Brazilian news agency Globo.
Another passenger, Jose Felipe, was going to book a Latam flight but instead tried to board a Voepass flight.
“We thought we would go through Latam, but Latam is closed,” Mr Felipe told Reuters.
“I arrived in the morning and waited, waited, waited for nothing.”
“When it hit 11:00 I came to check [information] here,” he continued.
“Then they told me, ‘You are no longer boarding this plane because you have passed your boarding point [time] limit.’
“I fought, until I pushed a little, I said to him, ‘Let me get on, I have to go on this plane and he said, ‘No, I can book your ticket.’
“Man, it’s an overwhelming feeling. I’m here shaking, my legs are here … Only God and I were aware of this moment.”
