Tesla has issued a recall for 1.8 million vehicles across the United States, Reuters reports, a large number and even an unknown company in this turn of events. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall due to a potential failure of the software to notify people of a closed hood.
A helmet that is not properly secured may come off when driving and block one’s view. Tesla has released an over-the-air software update that should fix the problem. The recall is on select Model 3, Model S and Model X vehicles from 2021 through 2024. It also affects Model Y vehicles from 2020-2024.
This year has already seen a number of Tesla recalls. In January, 200,000 cars were recalled due to a malfunctioning backup camera, and in February, the number hit even this recall, with two million cars flagged with a too-small warning light. May saw 125,000 vehicles with seat belt problems, while June brought faulty windshield wipers and repairs to 12,000 Tesla Cybertrucks.
