Taylor Swift ‘shocked’ by Southport attack as fans raise £100k

Singer Taylor Swift has said the knife attack at a music workshop that left three children dead and nine injured has left her “shocked”.

Children and adults have attacked at the event on Hart Street, Southport, on Monday.

Writing on Instagram, the star said she was “totally at a loss” for how to express her sympathy.

His supporters have raised more than £100,000 for the families of the victims of the Merseyside knife attack.

Swift, who played in nearby Liverpool as part of his European tour in June, means the “panic” of an attack, who had left three children deadfive were seriously injured and three others were injured, “they were washing over him”.

He said the “loss of life and innocence” and the “horrendous torture inflicted on everyone who was there” had left him “completely at a loss as to how to convey my sympathies to these families”.

A crowdfunding page called Swifties of Southport has raised more than £102,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where many of the injured are being treated.

Organizers of Taylor Swift’s UK and EU Facebook group say the money will go to the hospital’s charity.

In a statement, the group said it was working with the hospital “to help raise money to help families affected by the tragedy in Southport”.

It also said it was “raising funeral funds for these young Swifties who have passed so tragically”.

They added that all donations will go to the hospital’s health charity and will “help make a difference to those affected at a time of great distress”.

The attack also left two adults seriously injured.

A 17-year-old boy, from Banks in Lancashire, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in connection with the attack.

Police say the motive for the attack is “still unclear” but it is not being treated as terrorism-related.
